Welcome & Announcements:

**Anyone interested in being in the Commonwheel show in October needs to let Kathy Sullivan know by the end of the month.

**We still have slots available for our Retreat at Hide Away at the end of October.  Registration slips are available.

**Cecelia brought a number of examples to give us an idea of some of the things she plans to demonstrate during our retreat.  Some were cut-outs in wood and paper, some layering, some block text along with an art element, drawn letters, and altering weight and size.

**Foundational Fun Day at Heritage Park Rec Center will be Sat Jun 21 from 10-2.  Bring anything you’d like to work on and a sack lunch.  Fridge and sink are available.

**Our Swap & Shop at Candy’s will be from 9-12 on Saturday, June 28.  Be sure to label things you want to sell with the price and your name/initials.

**Nancy Anderson will be teaching Foundational with Parallel Pens in July.  She suggests using a 3.0/old green/new pink pen for size. She plans to focus on spacing and making lively/bouncing letters.

**Jerry’s Artarama in Ft. Collins has a good selection of calligraphy supplies.

**Office Depot on 8th Street is going out of business.  Grab envelopes and supplies at a discount!

Show & Share:

**TJ had a small piece she lettered in Foundational and a booklet co-lettered in pointed pen by the woman she met at Conference last year.

**Cyndi brought a framed wedding piece in Uncial and a large Foundational text.

**Dawn brought beautiful illuminated letters to include the word ‘Beowulf’.

Evening Presentation:

**Kathy brought exemplars from a weeklong class she took in England from Peter Thornton in 1994. She wanted us to look at the weight of his Roman Caps, remember our proportions, and pay special attention to the serifs and ending strokes.  She began with single strokes, then angled strokes, ones with rounds, then his squarish rounds. It was a wonderful instruction.
