Pressure/Release Pencil Caps ala Peter Thornton-Candy Entingh

Welcome & Announcements:

**Elections were held verbally for 3 positions needing to be filled by members stepping down: Vice President/Workshop Chair/Community Service Chair.  Kristi Lyons was elected as VP, Lynn Friedberg was elected as Workshop Chair, and Nell Houser was elected as Service Chair.  There were no ‘nays’.

**Annual dues of $30 are due this month.

**Our month to be featured in the Commonwheel Gallery in Manitou is Sept 2- Oct 3, 2022. Please be working on items to sell such as journals, 3-D pieces, framed pieces, and the like.  The gallery will take a 40% commission, so price your work accordingly. She reminded us to be cognizant of copyright infringements.

**Lynn showed us examples of images she plans to use in the transfer process next month.  Apparently, any laser jet photo copy from Office Depot will work because of the plastics used in the inking.

Show & Share:

**Sherry and her daughter, Jenny, recently took Heather Held’s on-line Pen and Ink drawing class.  This was a first for Jenny, and she showed us her finished product!

**Kimmi did a wonderful job on another window, painting and lettering in reverse, produced a 3-d framed picture, a glass jar with a paper mache elephant on the lid, and  a Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds needlepoint.

**Cecelia brought two tea towels printed by Spoonflower, one was a poem lettered on background paper she had on hand with bits of colored paper made to look like birds.  The other was entered in a calendar contest with funky shapes and numbers. In addition, she brought a practice piece she did in one of Yves’ on-line classes.

**Kristi used a triangle brush and a ruling pen to letter “Thank You’ in a variety of bister inks.

**Candy had a variety of small travel journals as examples of what she intends to make for the gallery show.

**TJ brought a sample piece of white gouache on black paper.

**Lynn brought a reverse-painted floral framed piece with the botanical name lettered in black, a washed bister ink, an image transfer/collage piece, and a wooden treasure box.

**Sherry brought 3 differently designed Valentine cards done in pointed pen.

Evening Presentation:

**Candy brought an exemplar of letters from Peter Thornton and demonstrated how to do pressure release strokes using any pencil we wanted to use.  We found the softer pencils worked best.
