Retreat Summary/Show & Share

Welcome & Announcements:

**Our annual Christmas party will be a potluck at 6 pm on Dec 9 at TJ’s. We are to bring 30 handmade cards for our card exchange.

Retreat Summary:

**Cecelia capped our year of Foundational off with a wonderful retreat at the Hideaway in Monument!  She wanted us to take what we had learned all year and apply it to various backgrounds and jelli prints she brought.  She had us drawing and tearing letter forms in a variety of ways to get us loosened up and relaxed. We drew letters which gave us a freedom to explore sizes and shapes and compositions.  We used tracing paper and Saral papers to transfer our sketched work, we embellished paper with gouache and colored pencils, and we learned how important it is to work with very sharp colored pencils.  The accommodations were ideal- great setting in the woods just out of town with a good-sized room to work in, and terrific food!  We even had 3 gals who came up from the NM guild in Albuquerque! We all had big lettering fun!

Tips & Tricks:

**Cecelia- use the computer and our phones to further enhance/showcase our work

**Tom- use and old toothbrush to add splashes of color

**Kathy- just do it! Don’t be afraid of pencil

**Lynn- take the advice of others

**TJ- use tracing paper/Saral paper

**Leslie- have a good pencil sharpener

Show & Share:

**Those present who had work to show included Tom, Kristi, Lynn, Zelda, Candy, Christy, Cheryl, Lynn, Kathy, Nell, Mary, and TJ.

These are some of the examples Cecelia showed at the retreat of work she has done capping off our year of Foundational.

These are examples of work done during the retreat, shown and shared at our November meeting.  My apologies for not taking pictures at the retreat to showcase more examples of work done!
